Dawat-e-Hyderabad: Exploring Hyderabad’s Culinary Landscape, AY 2023-24

 File
Identifier: FLU.RG02.EXP.DIP.2023-24.020

Scope and Contents

Hyderabadi cuisine is integrally connected to its renowned biryani, making the city's identity synonymous with its signature dish. This relation highlights the great significance of not only biryani but also other culinary gems among the city's residents. Its cuisine is more than just a food item; it embodies the city's spirit and is rooted in centuries-old culinary traditions. In this paper, we will explore Hyderabad's food scene, examining the fading away of Irani cafes, the fusions of cuisine brought about by migrants, how people adjusted to these changes, and—most importantly—the persistent inclination of Hyderabadis for their home cuisine.
