Cultural Segregation in Mumbai, AY 2021-22

 File
Identifier: FLU.RG02.EXP.DIP.2021-22.023

Scope and Contents

Cultural segregation in the Indian context refers to the divide in the population based on a multitude of socio-economic differences. Religion, language, caste, and class comprise some of these distinctions. Narrowing down our research to the city of Mumbai, we found that this distance between different socio-economic groups translates literally to the distance between their residences. There are distinct areas where housing is offered only to certain sects of the population; where the rest are denied access to housing based on their religion or caste.
