Scope and Contents

Bonjour! Vanakkam! The two most commonly used greetings in two divergent cultures becomes ‟one‟ only in the small Union Territory of Pondicherry, now known as Puducherry. This interaction between the Tamil and French cultures largely occurred due to French colonial rule. This resulted in the mixture of certain elements, which formed the basis of “Creolization”. Creolization is the blending of two different cultures. Pondicherry displays its closest relation to Creolization through mediums such as town planning, architecture, lifestyle, and cuisine.
