Identifier: FLU.RG02.EXP.DIP.2010-11.003

Scope and Contents

Bylakuppe contains the largest Tibetan settlement in India. This settlement is much larger even than the one in Dharamsala – which houses the headquarters of the Tibetan exiled government. The aim of the project was to study the degrees of change in the historical Tibetan traditions and culture and the way of life in the settlements since the move to Bylakuppe in 1961. This included documenting the monasteries, professions, locals, culture, medicine, education, food and daily life, the life and ways of the monks and nuns.
